First Aid

 

This First Aid course has been tailored to meet the needs of the sports massage practitioner. The course is HSE approved and is the minimum required for professional membership of the Sports Massage Association and the Institute of Sport & Remedial Massage. On successful completion of this one-day course the student will receive an HSE Certificate of Attendance issued through MG Training.

 

Course content:

 

  • Aims and legal responsibilities
  • Sports first aid kit
  • Assessment of the unconscious patient
  • CPR and the treatment of head and spinal injuries
  • Immediate management of bleeding, shock, fractures, dislocations and soft tissue injuries
  • Medical conditions including diabetes, epilepsy or asthma
  • Event emergency action planning

 

The course will be mainly practical so that students get first-hand experience of dealing with simulated injuries in a safe environment.
