How much does the diploma course cost?

The course costs £2,450 which includes registration with the awarding body and examination fees.

 

What qualifications do I need to apply for the diploma course?

The course is set at Level 5, so ideally students should have 5 GCSEs grades A-C or an acceptable Level 3 massage qualification or have attended an OSSM introductory massage course. An active involvement in sport as either a participant or coach is also useful. All courses are delivered and assessed in English. You must have sufficient command of the English language to complete your studies satisfactorily.

 

What qualification is awarded from this course?

The course is externally validated by BTEC and students will be awarded a BTEC Professional Diploma in Clinical Sport and Remedial Massage.

 

Is the course accredited by a professional body?

Yes, the OSSM is accredited by the Sports Massage Association (SMA) and the Institute of Sport and Remedial Massage (ISRM). Upon successful completion of the course the graduate will be able to apply for full Level 4 membership of the SMA or Level 5 membership of the ISRM.

 

Do I need insurance?

Yes. Student insurance can be obtained through the SMA or ISRM.  You do not need to have this in place prior to starting the diploma course - we will explain what is required during the first teaching weekend. Once a student has graduated student membership can be upgraded to that of a full practicing member.

 

Are you an ELCAS Approved Learning Provider?

Yes. If you are in the Armed Forces and are considering higher level learning we are an Approved Learning Provider with the Armed Services Enhanced Learning Credits Scheme.

What is the QCF?

The QCF (Qualifications and Credit Framework) is a new way of recognising achievement through the award of credit units and qualification.  It takes over from the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) at the end of 2010.  To read more, visit www.qcda.gov.uk

 

What are National Occupational Standards (NOS)?

National Occupational Standards (NOS) describe the skills, knowledge and understanding needed to undertake a task or job to a nationally recognised level of competence.  Employers use NOS to describe skills they need in the workplace.  Awarding bodies and education providers use NOS to develop training and qualifications. 

 

What is CPD?

The purpose of CPD (Continuous Professional Development) is to reinforce the need for lifelong learning in order to stay current with changing techniques, procedures, processes, and established standards.
